It Can’t Be Done!—Oh?

download“How do you harmonize the literal future understanding of fulfillment with past figurative fulfillment? a FB poster asked this past week on a discussion forum.

“It can’t be done . . . two opposites . . .” he insisted.

To which I responded, “I’ve done it. And proved it at the highest level of scholarship. This solution is now available inside my latest book, if you are interested.”

“I read parts of your book [no doubt with Amazon.com’s “Look Inside” feature] . . . there is no way to prove his coming again is still past and future . . . it becomes double talk,” he retorted with a huff and a puff.

But in my chapter titled, “A More Disciplined Methodology,” I expound on the topic of “Literal Vs. Spiritual,” as well as our “Tendency to Add,” “The Key Hermeneutical Question,” and “Ten Special Hermeneutical Guidelines for Eschatology.”

Yes, it’s kind of fun doing what some consider “impossible.”

And yes, I recommend Unraveling the End: A balanced scholarly synthesis of four competing and conflicting end-time views to your attention.  Check it out on Amazon.com and “Look Inside” for FREE.
