‘Left Behind’ last night
Yes, my wife and I went to see the re-tooling, or re-fooling, of the ‘Left Behind’ movie, starring Nicholas Cage last night – us and eleven other people were in the audience.
Forget the theology for a moment.
She thought it was “hokey.” I gave it two stars and three farts.
Huffington Post terms it “typical Hollywood apocalypse porn.”
The Hollywood Report bemoaned that “the Rapture won’t come soon enough for the unfortunate souls forced to suffer through Left Behind . . .” and termed Cage’s performance as he “seems virtually sedated throughout.”
Christianity Today magazine characterized it as “Not a ‘Christian movie.’ Not even close. . . . just a run-of-the-mill disaster flick.”
Movieguide tactfully gave it three stars, praised it, and disclaimed it for its “very strong Christian, biblical worldview for those who look for a pre-tribulation rapture of the church . . .”
Have you seen it? If so, what do you think of it?
